Freedom Day: NSW Covid-19 Restrictions as of December 7 2020

Today Covid-19 restrictions were significantly eased in NSW and December 7 has been named “Freedom Day”.

Here are the latest updates and some insight into what they mean for your wedding planning:

No restrictions on guest numbers for ceremonies

The 1 person per 2 square metre rule applies for social distancing.

No restrictions on guest numbers for receptions

The 1 person per 2 square metre rule applies for social distancing.

Up to 50 people are allowed to dance

A maximum of 50 people are allowed to dance indoors.

No maximum for outdoor dancefloors.

Up to 50 performers allowed to perform or sing

A maximum of 50 performers are allowed to perform or sing indoors.

No maximum for outdoor performers or singers.

Standing to drink

Guests are allowed to stand and drink.

The 1 person per 2 square metre rule applies for social distancing.

All guests must check-in using an electronic check-in app

This can be done using a QR Code (available from the NSW government site https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/covid-safe/qr-codes#covid-safe-check-in-with-the-service-nsw-app) which is free.

All guests must advise if they have been ill leading up to the wedding

If a guest has been ill leading up to the wedding, they are required to have a covid-19 test and have clearance before they can attend the wedding.

Other Factors to Consider:

Consider taking photographs before the ceremony instead of in between the ceremony and reception

This is not compulsory it is an advisory suggestion from the NSW Government to limit guests being in physical contact for extended periods.

Consider alternatives to physical gifts and guest books 

This is not compulsory it is a suggestion to prevent contact with the covid-19 on surfaces that may have a large number of possible transmissions.
